3 Product Overview

GXT117E is a high-precision, low-power digital temperature sensor delivering 16-bit temperature readings with 0.0078125 °C per LSB. It achieves an accuracy of ±0.1 °C across the -20 °C to +50 °C range. The device supports SMBus and I²C protocols, and up to four GXT117E sensors with distinct slave addresses can share a single communication bus. GXT117E integrates on-chip EEPROM with 48 bits available for user custom programming.

The low-power design of GXT117E minimizes self-heating effects that degrade temperature measurement accuracy. It operates from 2.5 V to 5.5 V. In 1 Hz continuous conversion mode without averaging, its typical supply current is only 3.5 µA.

GXT117E provides a single-chip digital alternative to platinum RTD temperature measurement. Its accuracy matches Class AA RTDs while consuming far less power. It eliminates many complexities associated with RTD circuits, including precision voltage references, matched PCB traces, complex algorithms and post-calibration, greatly simplifying system design.

Every GXT117E device undergoes 100% testing during production, and each chip is assigned a unique NIST traceable ID.
